In practice, sodomy is simply any form of sexual intercourse involving penetration of the partner's anus with a penis, hand or object, but the psychological side is far more complex to understand.
Throughout history, anal sex has never been a simple matter. It may not have been the most common form of intercourse in ancient Rome or Greece, but it was nonetheless very common, even almost customary, in relationships of all kinds, such as between teacher and pupil. A form of knowledge transmission. So it's quite likely that Ulysses or Hercules passed through here... Household masters could also sodomize their slaves to demonstrate their power.
The Celts and Gauls didn't pass on much information on this subject, but it would seem that homosexuality was accepted and that sodomy should not be too strongly stigmatized.
Things became more complicated during the Middle Ages and the Inquisition. The term sodomy became a catch-all term for all non-reproductive sexual practices, and was therefore condemned by the Church (fellatio, masturbation, cunni, sodomy, and even coitus interruptus). As the power of the Christian church grew, it became an abominable sin that could condemn its practitioners to all forms of punishment, including the death penalty and banishment.
These religious rules were adopted in many democracies, where the practice of sodomy remained a criminal offense for a long time. With the end of state discrimination against homosexuality in Western countries, decriminalization has become widespread, but the taboo remains firmly entrenched, especially for heterosexual couples.
Unlike the vagina and mouth, the anus does not produce natural lubrication. It is therefore highly recommended to lubricate in one way or another. Saliva may suffice, but for more intense pleasure, we strongly recommend the use of more effective lubricants. Vaseline was used in the early days, but with the advent of health problems and the condom, it has been all but banned. Fatty substances should not be used with a condom. Water-based lubricants are the best way to lubricate this type of intercourse.
Start by dilating and lubricating the anus. While inserting a penis may be uncomfortable for some, it allows you to feel whether or not the anus is dilating sufficiently. Sometimes, the anus doesn't dilate enough, and this certainly means that the partner isn't ready or isn't in the right mood for it. Once the anus is sufficiently dilated, don't skimp on lubrication and start slowly.
As far as enemas are concerned, while they're a common practice in porn films, they're not compulsory to access pleasure.
As with vaginal intercourse, sodomy can be performed any way you like. But there are some positions that make it easier. The famous doggy style is undoubtedly the preferred position, as it allows you to put your buttocks forward and excite your partner more. For gentler penetration, lying on your stomach seems a good choice, but if you want to see your partner's face, lying on your back is also a great way to go.
Clearly, this practice is still taboo for a majority of Swiss people. While it seems that 38% of women and 50% of men have already experimented with it, three times fewer have made it a regular practice. These figures show that the demand is more likely to come from men, and certainly because of the discomfort or embarrassment the practice can cause. On the other hand, in heterosexual couples with conventional practices, while a very large number of men fantasize about active sodomy, very few fantasize about the opposite. These figures change dramatically when it comes to BDSM practices.
The taboos associated with this practice, the fantasies it represents and the fairly common refusal to be practiced by women mean that it's a service often offered by prostitutes (often for an extra fee). They can clearly state that they practice it in their ads, but also use specific terms such as: A-level, A+, Greek Welcome, etc...
Aside from the fantasy and pleasure of satisfying one's partner, anal sex can bring great pleasure. If the passive person is a man, the famous prostate will be stimulated, and if it's a woman, the sensations of coming and going as well as the stimulation of the vagina from the inside. For the active person, the pleasure is quite similar to that of vaginal penetration, but the feeling of defying the forbidden and or of domination can really enhance the pleasure.
The risks are minimal if performed within the rules. First of all, you need to lubricate well, prepare the anus and introduce yourself gently. Performing the procedure too quickly or too roughly can cause tears or micro-lesions, which can lead to complications as well as being painful.
The mucous membrane of the rectum is also porous and sensitive to bacteria and viruses (STDs). It is therefore strongly recommended to use a condom to limit the spread of disease.
The final problem is due to the location. The region is obviously full of bacteria. It is therefore essential to wash afterwards, and not to penetrate other orifices without cleaning after anal penetration.
